The Royal Gorge Route Railroad, located a short drive from Colorado Springs in Canon City, has tremendous historical significance. After a 32-year absence this train route, encompassing 24 miles roundtrip, follows ones of the most historical portions of the old Denver & Rio Western train line. The train goes down through the famous Royal Gorge and over the world's highest hanging bridge.
The train operates year-round and visitors choose between riding in the the coach class, observation dome or embarking on a dinner tour.
