Located an hour south of Colorado Springs, Canon City is a popular vacation destination due to its many exciting and unique attractions. Perhaps the most popular Canon City attraction is the nearby Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, which is home to the world's highest suspension bridge that hangs 1,053 ft (321 m) above the Royal Gorge canyon. Many visitors enjoy embarking on a two-hour scenic train tour across the bridge with the Royal Gorge Route Railroad, which is considered to be one of the most spectacular scenic railroads in the world. Other Canon City attractions include the Museum of Colorado Prisons, which features 32 cells that are filled with memorabilia from Colorado's early prisons. Dinosaur Depot is an excellent educational destination for families, as it boasts the most complete Stegosaurus fossil in the world, among many other fossil displays. Every May Canon City celebrates the Music & Blossom Festival, a three-day event that features the National Band Championships, a parade and much more.
